La città di Osimo (Auximum) è stata fondata tra il VII e il VI secolo a.C. dai greco-siculi. Essa si erige sopra delle colline e proprio per la sua posizione strategica è luogo di scontri tra Celti e Piceni, che per sconfiggere gli altri si alleeranno con i Romani diventando poi colonia nel 270 a.C. Le tracce restanti dei romani sono Fonte Magna, i due assi del sistema viario, statue, iscrizioni e sarcofagi.
The city of Osimo (Auximum) was founded between the 7th and 6th centuries BC. by the Greek-Sicilians. It rises above the hills and because of its strategic position it is a place of clashes between the Celts and Piceni, who will ally with the Romans to defeat the others, becoming a colony in 270 BC.
