Small but splendid port built at the beginning of 1700, for the landing of boats coming mainly from the Umbrian hinterland (ie upstream of the Tiber flow): the port of Ripetta.
The name of this port derives from the diminutive of the port of Ripa Grande, a larger and more important landing place, located more towards the mouth of the river, in the area of Ponte Sublicio, to which maritime traffic was entrusted.
The port of Ripetta, designed by the architect Alessandro Specchi, had a terraced façade, artistically very beautiful, right in front of the church of San Rocco, with a fountain in the center to quench the thirst of people and animals who were entrusted with the loads of the boats.
