Genetista. Nato a Montagnana 11 Luglio 1932. Laureato in Scienze Agrarie presso l’Università di Firenze, Cesare Maliani ha fondato e diretto, insieme a suo padre Prof. Cirillo Maliani, un Istituto di Genetica privato ad Ardea (Roma) ed uno a Recanati, quest’ultimo tuttora funzionante, dove si è dedicato particolarmente alla costituzione di nuove varietà di grani duri e teneri.
Nella sua attività di genetista, seguendo le orme del grande Strampelli e poi quella di suo padre Cirillo Maliani, famoso scienziato nella genetica agraria , ha dedicato più di un quarto di secolo a ricerche e studi su frumenti duri e teneri, ottenendo così risultati incoraggianti per quanto riguarda la costituzione di nuove varietà a cominciare dai duri: “Piceno”, “Grazia”, “Cirillo”, “Giemme”, “San Carlo”, e “Prometeo”, che hanno avuto una buona diffusione in Italia e all’estero e dei grani teneri il “Recanati”, “Il Loreto”, il “San Giacomo” e il “Buon Pastor”:Ha ottenuto importanti riconoscimenti tra cui il premio Barilla per la migliore qualità di grano duro per la pasta. Uomo di vivissimo ingegno, di profonda preparazione tecnica e scientifica, costantemente teso nell’ansia di apprendere e soprattutto di agire per il bene dell’agricoltura italiana e degli agricoltori. Muore a Recanati il 28 Settembre 2001.

A man of lively genius, with a deep technical and scientific preparation, constantly eager to learn and above all to act for the best of Italian agriculture and farmers. He died in Recanati on September 28, 2001.
