Antonio Bianchi nacque a Recanati.

The engineer Antonio Bianchi was the author of the monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the battle of Castelfidardo of September 18th 1860, the "Shrine-Ossuary", built in the years 1861-1870 on the Mirano hill on the southern edges of the Selva di Castelfidardo, where the bloodiest phase of the battle was carried out .

The Shrine-Ossuary is a monument of significant entity with a great symbolic and iconographic value typical of the Risorgimento thought. Originally the monument was deconsecrated, then in 1956 the noblewoman Maria Lucrezia Lepetit, Duchess Ferretti of Castelferretto, asked and obtained from the Bishop of Recanati to bless the monument and the remains of the soldiers, and a Christian cross was placed in the central column. Cypresses and hedges were planted around the monument as a frame.

Antonio Bianchi was born in Recanati. In 1848 he was the standard-bearer of the Roman university battalion on the fields of glory and in Vicenza he was wounded in the leg. In 1849 he lent his work in the serious trials between which the republic was debating and was in the Ascolano against the brigands. After the fall, the republic was made a political precept and it was forbidden to practice the profession for several years. From 1850 to 1859 he conspired between Loreto and Recanati; he was very influential throughout the Marca and had very important positions. When the Piedmontese army entered the State of the Church he was immediately in relationship with the Command, and when the fleet was in front of Ancona he had the leadership of a flotilla of fishing boats destined to lend themselves for multiple services. Bianchi died in 1904 in Recanati.
