La via del mare collegava in epoca medievale la Città, attraverso Porta Marina, al Castrum maris e quindi al Porto.
Nelle “Ricordanze”, Leopardi si riferiva al Mare Adriatico che ammirava dalla sua casa.

The sea route connected the city in medieval times, through Porta Marina, to the Castrum Maris and then to the port.
In the "Ricordanze", Leopardi referred to the Adriatic Sea which he admired from his home.
